Legal practitioner Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) expressed his belief on Thursday that Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu is not involved in the efforts to impeach his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
There have been allegations that the Ondo State House of Assembly has raised accusations against Aiyedatiwa with the aim of impeaching him. Aiyedatiwa assumed the role of acting Governor when Akeredolu took sick leave in Germany.
Speaking on Channels TV, Adegboruwa stated that he does not believe Akeredolu intends to incite political turmoil in his state. He emphasized that the governor is known for his courage, transparency, and accountability.
Adegboruwa expressed his belief that Governor Akeredolu will eventually step in to mediate and bring order to the situation, allowing governance to take precedence in the state. He stressed that the current political tension should not hinder progress and unity.
He also noted the importance of those in positions of authority setting aside personal interests for the advancement of government and emphasized the need for due process in handling such matters. Adegboruwa pointed out that both the governor and the deputy belong to the same political party, making intervention and resolution crucial to maintain stability in the state.
