Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s Elder Sister, Passes Away

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s elder sister, Madam Obebhatein Jonathan, has passed away at the age of 70 after a brief illness at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The sad news was conveyed through a statement by Jonathan’s spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze.Known affectionately as Amissi, the late Obebhatein was a retired teacher and businesswoman. Described as a loving mother and grandmother, she devoted her life to service for God and humanity. A devout Christian and virtuous woman, she served as a role model to many in and beyond her community.The statement also mentioned that the burial is scheduled for Tuesday, February 16, 2024, with the family planning to announce the details of the funeral rites. Madam Obebhatein Jonathan is survived by three children, siblings, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, and her mother, Mama Eunice Afeni-Jonathan.
