Despite her husband reporting the incident and Mu’azu’s subsequent arrest, he was later released on bail.Lubabatu expressed frustration over the lack of a police investigation into her complaint, revealing that her husband was arrested for alleged defamation of the suspect. She shared the traumatic details of the incident, describing Mu’azu’s threats and the assault she endured while her children witnessed the horrifying scene.The victim, whose husband remains in police custody, voiced regret over the absence of action three weeks after petitioning the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police. Lubabatu explained that Mu’azu, introduced as an ‘uncle,’ played a role in their relocation to Bauchi, promising a better life, but their circumstances worsened.Alkassim Muhammad, the Founder of African Child Development and Human Rights Protection, expressed disappointment in the police’s failure to investigate the rape complaint, emphasizing the seriousness of such allegations. Alkassim pledged legal action to ensure justice for Lubabatu.The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Bauchi Command, Ahmed Wakil, clarified that Yusuf, Lubabatu’s husband, was arrested for defamation based on a complaint.
