Youths in Osun took to the streets of Osogbo to protest against the escalating cost of living, urging the federal government to take prompt action. Brandishing placards with messages like “Change the unfavourable policies” and “Nigerians are suffering, we can’t cope anymore,” the demonstrators gathered along MDS Road, Osogbo, voicing their discontent. Drivetvnews reports that Despite a significant police presence, the youth continued to express the frustrations of many Nigerians due to the harsh economic conditions. Speaking to the protesters, the chairman of Osun Civil Societies Coalition, Mr. Waheed Lawal, emphasized that the protest would persist until the government addresses the prevailing economic challenges. He stressed the need for the government to prioritize the welfare of citizens, provide adequate security, and ensure a peaceful environment. The protest in Osun joins others across the country, with similar demonstrations occurring in Niger, Kano, and Kogi earlier in the week.
