In the past month, Akwa Ibom State Police successfully rescued four kidnap victims, including one woman who faked her own abduction. Additionally, they apprehended 52 suspects involved in various criminal activities.

Speaking to journalists in Uyo, Commissioner of Police Mr. Waheed Ayilara disclosed that crimes such as murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, child trafficking, cultism, and fraud were among those tackled by the police.

Detailing one case, Ayilara explained that a woman from Nung Oku village in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area orchestrated her own kidnapping, demanding a ransom of N4 million. However, police intervention led to her arrest along with her boyfriend and accomplices.

Further, a man was apprehended in Uruting village, Okobo Local Government Area, for murdering his 75-year-old father with a machete, citing property disputes as the motive.

In another operation, a suspect involved in producing adulterated fruit drinks and counterfeit goods was arrested in Ayam village, Etinan Local Government Area.

Moreover, police rescued a man who defrauded people using Point of Sale machines and recovered a substantial amount of money from him.

Ayilara assured that all suspects would face legal proceedings once investigations were completed.
