Two individuals disguising as alms beggars in Lagos traffic jams were arrested by the police for robbery. The incident occurred when the pair approached a motorist in a gridlock at the Agungi area in Lekki. Initially seeking alms, they forcibly snatched the motorist’s mobile phone and jewelry before fleeing the scene. The vigilant motorist promptly alerted a nearby police patrol team, resulting in the arrest of the culprits. According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson in Lagos State, the stolen items were recovered from the suspects, who will face appropriate legal action. Additionally, another arrest was made when a woman attempted to conduct a transaction worth N90,000 with counterfeit N1,000 notes through a Point of Sale (PoS) machine operator. The astute PoS operator raised an alarm, leading to the apprehension of the woman, who is currently detained for further investigation.
