Funke Akindele has addressed allegations suggesting she neglected the late actress Aderounmu Adejumoke during her time of need.

Aderounmu, known for her role as Esther in the popular series “Jenifa’s Diaries,” which Akindele produced, reportedly sought assistance from Akindele when she was ill.

During an Instagram live session on April 9, 2024, Akindele stated she was unaware of Aderounmu’s illness until seeing a comment on her page. Responding to criticisms, she emphasized her deep regard for her fans and explained that remaining silent could lead to misconceptions.

Akindele clarified that her relationship with Aderounmu was strictly professional, with no personal connection beyond work. She asserted that Aderounmu fulfilled her role, received payment, and departed.

The controversy escalated when Aderounmu’s brother, Adeola Aderounmu, hinted on Instagram that attempts were made to contact Akindele for assistance but received no response.

Akindele defended herself, stating she provides support discreetly and would have assisted had she been aware of the situation. Expressing her frustration, she highlighted her personal challenges and the pressure to maintain a public image.

Acknowledging her own hardships, including the loss of her mother during COVID-19 and marital issues, Akindele emphasized her commitment to her craft and her reluctance to engage in conflicts within the industry.

Despite her efforts to extend condolences to Aderounmu’s family, Akindele claimed her attempts to reach out to Aderounmu’s brother were unanswered.

In conclusion, Akindele reiterated her willingness to help and expressed regret over the misunderstanding, emphasizing the complexity of her personal and professional life.
