The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested Ibrahim Abubakar, a 33-year-old butcher residing in Sabon Gari-Futy, Girei Local Government Area, for fatally stabbing his 25-year-old wife, Hajara Sa’adu.

According to a statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, on the command’s official account on Tuesday, Abubakar allegedly attacked his wife, stabbing her multiple times with a sharp knife, resulting in her death.

The incident occurred on April 8, 2024, around 4:30 am, following a dispute over a missing phone. Abubakar reportedly accused his wife of taking his phone, leading to a heated argument that culminated in the tragic event.

Abubakar was apprehended after the father of the deceased reported the incident to the police. Preliminary investigations revealed incriminating evidence at the crime scene, linking Abubakar to the murder.

In a surprising turn of events, Abubakar confessed to the crime voluntarily, expressing remorse for his actions. He acknowledged the gravity of his actions, lamenting the loss of the mother of their only child.
