Tragedy struck in Ogun State when two individuals took their own lives in separate incidents.
According to Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, one Opeyemi Lateef died after ingesting a poisonous substance, suspected to be ‘Sniper,’ in Abeokuta. Lateef’s wife, Gift Monday, discovered him in severe pain and rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to the poisoning and was laid to rest following Islamic burial rites.
Meanwhile, a 24-year-old woman named Gift Bello allegedly jumped into a well in Arigbanwo, Mowe. Eyewitnesses reported that she drowned, and her body was recovered from the well. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Odutola stated that investigations into both incidents had commenced, with witnesses providing statements regarding Lateef’s condition before his death and the circumstances leading to Bello’s apparent suicide.
