Gunmen have kidnapped 11 family members, including Aminat, the wife of Kogi-based journalist Muhammed Bashir, and his two daughters, Aisha and Hajara, in Kaduna State. The family had arrived in Kaduna on Thursday for a holiday with relatives.

Bashir, a correspondent with the New Telegraph, shared the news of the abduction with his colleagues in Lokoja on Friday. In a brief statement, he revealed the distressing news on the Kogi correspondent chapel WhatsApp group, stating, “My dear colleagues, please, I need your prayers. My two daughters and their mother, along with eight others, were kidnapped yesterday by unknown gunmen in Kaduna, where they went for a holiday. Please pray for me.”

The other abducted family members include Aisha Saba Khadija, Haruna, Adamu Haruna, Muhammad Abubakar, Asmau Abubakar, Usman Abubakar, Muhammad Abubakar, and Hauwa Muhammad.

Bashir mentioned that he has reached out to the police and the Department of State Security Services, who have assured him that efforts are underway to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
