Afrobeats icon David Adeleke, known as Davido, recently opened up about how he deals with the sorrow of losing loved ones. He highlighted that his strength and faith have played vital roles in helping him persevere.

In a recent interview with Mystery Fashionist in New York, Davido reflected on his painful experiences, stating, “I’ve experienced the loss of many people. I lost my mother when I was just eleven years old. I’m focused on staying strong. I even created a song titled ‘Stand Strong.’ I believe that my strength, along with my faith, has kept me going.”

He also addressed some common misconceptions people have about him. “Some believe I’m not easy to approach, while others think I’m overly accessible. Coming from a big family, I’m used to being around people. My talent and success are gifts from God,” he noted.

Davido has faced substantial grief throughout his life, including the loss of his mother, Victoria Imade Adeleke, at a young age. He also tragically lost his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, along with several friends and associates, such as Tagbo, DJ Olu, Obama DMW, and personal photographer Fortune, in quick succession.
