Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has given cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, a 12-hour deadline to withdraw defamatory remarks and issue a public apology. This ultimatum was outlined in a letter dated October 14, 2024, and signed by Olorunfemi Akinyemi and Taiwo E. Olawanle from Falana and Falana’s Chambers.

Falz’s legal team has demanded that Bobrisky retract the false statements and publish a written apology across all platforms where the claims were made. If Bobrisky fails to comply, Falz plans to pursue legal action, including seeking compensation for damages.

The issue began when Bobrisky alleged that Falz had offered to arrange a presidential pardon through his father, Femi Falana, a well-known Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), in exchange for N10 million.

Falz’s legal representatives denied this accusation, stating that it was actually Bobrisky who had approached Falz for financial help, which Falz declined.

The letter, titled “Demand for Withdrawal and Retraction of Defamatory Statements against Mr. Folarin Falana (aka Falz),” accuses Bobrisky of using his recent imprisonment as a means to mislead the public and make false claims of legal support from Falz’s father.

The letter further claims: “It is clear that you exploited your recent imprisonment to solicit money from artists and the public. On May 4, 2024, you contacted Mr. Falz, asking for N3 million to secure a special place at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, which was turned down. Subsequently, you falsely alleged in a video that Mr. Femi Falana had agreed to write a pardon letter for you.”

Falz’s legal team also dismissed other statements by Bobrisky, including claims that he paid N5 million to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria to secure a pardon, calling these assertions completely false.

The letter warns that if Bobrisky fails to retract the statements and issue an apology within 12 hours, legal action will be initiated, potentially resulting in substantial financial compensation.
