The Enugu State Police Command has released photos of the officer accused of fatally shooting traditional Ogene musician Okezie Chikezie Mba, popularly known as Igbo-Jah.
According to Drivetvnews, the incident occurred on October 25, 2024, at the headquarters of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad in Enugu State.
DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the Public Relations Officer for the Enugu State Police Command, stated that Igbo-Jah was leaving the squad’s headquarters after a visit when he was shot by a police officer. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
The shooting, which took place around 8:10 p.m., prompted Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State to order an inquiry into the musician’s death.
In a statement released on Saturday night, Ndukwe identified the officer involved as Inspector Joseph Ozonwanji and confirmed that he is currently in custody.
“He is now detained and will face the full extent of the law after the investigation is concluded,” Ndukwe said.
