The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has questioned renowned Nigerian actress Iyabo Ojo in connection with alleged currency abuse during her daughter’s recent wedding celebration.
Drivetvnews gathered that Ojo’s daughter, Priscilla Ojo, tied the knot with Tanzanian musician Jux in Nigeria on April 17, 2025. This followed their earlier Islamic wedding ceremony held in Tanzania in February.
The wedding quickly became a trending topic online, attracting attention for its star-studded guest list, which featured prominent celebrities from both Nigeria and abroad.
Footage from the event showed attendees spraying both U.S. dollars and Nigerian naira, prompting scrutiny from authorities.
In response to widespread speculation following the event, Iyabo Ojo confirmed via Instagram that she had honored an invitation from the EFCC and was subsequently interviewed.
She revealed that the questioning covered her personal background, career history, and business ventures. Ojo stated, “I was asked whether I was aware that such actions were illegal. I explained that I believed only the defacing or mutilation of the naira was against the law.”
She further noted that the EFCC clarified it is also illegal to spray money on individuals or in public, regardless of the currency, including foreign denominations such as the dollar.
