Tension gripped the Delta State Government House in Asaba over the weekend after a cow, intended for slaughter, broke loose and attacked several individuals, leaving staff in a state of panic.
The incident occurred when the animal suddenly turned aggressive, injuring multiple people during the chaos. One of the victims, a man in his 30s who tried to restrain the cow, was seriously wounded after being knocked down. He was initially treated at the Government House clinic before being transferred to an undisclosed hospital due to the severity of his injuries. Reports indicate that he is in critical condition.
A source familiar with the situation revealed that the injured man suffered deep cuts on his thighs. Another staff member, identified only as Peter, who works as a cook within the premises, also sustained injuries in the incident.
“The first two butchers invited to slaughter the animal could not control it and ran away,” the source added. “The severely injured man was reportedly the second person brought in to take over the job.”
As of the time of this report, there has been no official response from Government House authorities regarding the incident.
