BBNaija star Phyna mourns the death of her sister, Ruth Otabor, who died from injuries sustained in a Dangote truck accident in Edo State.

The family of Ruth Otabor, sister to Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Josephine Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has announced her passing following injuries sustained in a road accident involving a Dangote truck.

The announcement was made on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m., through a statement released by Eko Solicitors & Advocates, legal representatives of the Otabor family.

Justice Segun Ojienoh, speaking on behalf of the firm, said:

“With heavy hearts, the family of Ruth Otabor regrets to announce her passing on to glory. They are currently grieving and request privacy as they mourn their beloved daughter, sister, and mother.”

Ruth, a fresh graduate of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, sustained severe injuries during the accident on August 13, 2025. One of her legs was amputated in a bid to save her life, and she faced further complications affecting her lungs, bladder, and reproductive organs.

Phyna had previously raised concerns on social media, alleging that the Dangote Group was reluctant to provide necessary support for her sister’s medical care and evacuation abroad for advanced treatment.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.
