The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of retired Ogun State Television broadcaster, Olakitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.

Drivetvnews gathered that the victims were found dead at Oyesiku’s residence in the Owode-Egba area of the state on June 21. Her Lexus RX 330 SUV was also reported stolen following the incident.

Speaking to journalists on June 25, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, said investigators swiftly launched an operation after receiving a report of the crime. During the investigation, officers successfully recovered the stolen vehicle.

The police chief revealed that a handwritten note recovered from the crime scene was subjected to forensic analysis, which provided crucial leads that aided the investigation.

According to Ojajuni, the principal suspect, 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, a former security guard employed by the deceased, was arrested on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he had been working as a labourer.

The suspect’s confession reportedly led detectives to two other suspects identified as Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, a bricklayer.

Police said Philip confessed that he orchestrated the attack due to grievances he harboured from his time working for the retired broadcaster. According to investigators, he claimed the attack was intended to “teach her a lesson.”

Ojajuni stated that the suspects allegedly overpowered Adetayo before gaining access to Oyesiku’s residence. Both victims were subsequently killed during the attack.

The commissioner added that investigators recovered several items believed to be connected to the crime, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a wooden plank and a black pen.

He assured that the suspects would be prosecuted once investigations are completed.
