Omoyele Sowore has announced a series of campaign promises ahead of the 2027 presidential election, including a ₦500,000 minimum wage, an end to casualisation of workers, and a nationwide public housing programme.

According to statements shared on X, the African Action Congress candidate said his administration would build one million public homes across Nigeria if elected president.

Sowore said the housing programme would focus on mixed-income estates with schools, clinics, green spaces, transport access, malls, theatres and other community facilities, rather than segregated “low-income housing.”

He also accused political elites of diverting public resources for personal luxury while many Nigerians remain homeless and poor.

On labour issues, Sowore promised to abolish casualisation and exploitative contract staffing arrangements, arguing that workers deserve:

job security

fair wages

pensions

healthcare

humane working conditions

He added that critical workers such as police officers, soldiers, teachers, doctors and nurses should receive additional allowances because of the risks and importance of their jobs.

Sowore argued that a ₦500,000 minimum wage is necessary to provide Nigerian workers with a living wage amid the country’s economic challenges.
