Three young men from Plateau State have reportedly been abducted by gunmen while travelling through Kogi State, with their captors demanding ₦30 million for their release.

The victims, identified as Kweti Jonathan Menje, Habila Sunday, and Samuel, are residents of the Jenta Adamu community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to a statement issued by the Jenta Adamu Central Youth Council, the three men were returning to Jos from a business trip to Akure, Ondo State, when armed men intercepted the commercial vehicle conveying them along a highway in Kogi State and forcefully took them to an unknown location.

The youth council disclosed that the kidnappers later contacted the families of the victims, demanding ₦10 million for each hostage, amounting to a total ransom of ₦30 million. The abductors reportedly threatened to kill the victims if the money was not paid within a specified period.

The incident has sparked fear and anxiety within the Jenta Adamu community, with residents expressing concern over the safety of the abducted youths amid the country’s economic challenges.

Community leaders said they had verified the incident with the victims’ families and appealed to the Federal Government, the governments of Plateau and Kogi states, as well as security agencies, to urgently intervene and secure the safe release of the captives.

They also called on members of the public to support ongoing rescue efforts through prayers and by providing any useful information that could assist security operatives.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kogi State Police Command had not officially commented on the abduction.
