The Benue State Police Command has arrested a man, Terfa Nyikwagh, for allegedly killing his father during a family dispute in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of the state.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident was reported to the police on July 25 by the Clan Head of Turan-Tse Twar, Injorov Tongov, also known as Zaki Akor Kpan.
The report indicated that the tragedy occurred on July 24, when the suspect allegedly engaged in a heated argument with his father, Mr. Nyikwagh Abor, over the death of his brother, Ternenge Uwuh.
The disagreement reportedly escalated into violence, with Terfa allegedly attacking his father with an axe, inflicting fatal injuries.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Katsina-Ala led a team of officers to the community, where the suspect was arrested without resistance.
The victim’s body was later evacuated to Gondozua Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Police said the suspect remains in custody while detectives continue their investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident before charging him to court.
