Suspected bandits have launched a fresh attack on Koro community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, leaving at least one person dead and forcing residents to flee for safety.
Sources in the area confirmed that the community came under heavy assault, although the total number of casualties has not yet been established as details continue to emerge.
As of the time of reporting, security agencies have not released an official statement on the incident.
Koro community shares a boundary with Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, raising fears that the violence could spread to neighbouring communities.
Residents and local authorities have been urged to avoid the area and remain vigilant as the situation develops.
Background: Recent Terror Attacks in Kwara
The latest incident comes shortly after deadly attacks in other parts of Kwara State. Between February 3 and 4, 2026, terrorists invaded Woro and Nuku villages in Kaiama Local Government Area.
The attackers, reportedly linked to Boko Haram factions, carried out shootings, arson and abductions. Reports indicated that at least 162 people were killed, over 50 were injured, and 38 others were kidnapped, while homes and community structures were destroyed.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu condemned the attacks and ordered the deployment of an army battalion to the state to strengthen security and protect vulnerable communities.
