Nollywood actress Faithia Williams has announced the death of her mother, revealing that the tragic news was kept from her until after she celebrated her 55th birthday.
The actress made the disclosure in an emotional message shared on her Instagram page on Monday. She explained that her mother passed away on Wednesday, February 5, just a day before the birthday party she marked, but she was unaware of the loss at the time.
“Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party and the news was cruelly kept away from me,” she wrote.
Faithia described her late mother as her strongest supporter, calling her a prayer warrior, confidant, and closest companion. She added that she is still struggling to come to terms with the reality of the death.
While expressing grief, the actress said the family has decided to keep the matter private for now and appealed to the public for prayers and support.
“Your love and prayers will mean a lot to me and my siblings this period. Burial details will be announced later,” she added.
Since her announcement, several Nollywood colleagues and fans have flooded her page with condolence messages.
Actress Aisha Lawal prayed for the peaceful rest of the deceased, while Salami Rotimi also expressed sympathy. Actor Muyiwa Ademola described the news as heartbreaking and prayed for her soul to rest in peace. Actress Wunmi Toriola also sent condolences, saying only God could comfort Faithia and her family during the difficult period.
