The Ondo State Security Network, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, has arrested 95 individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal activities across the state’s 18 local government areas.

The arrests were made possible through collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigerian Army.

Amotekun’s state commander, Akogun Adeleye, announced the operations on Sunday while briefing journalists in Akure, the state capital. He said the suspects are alleged to have been engaged in crimes including kidnapping, theft, burglary, and illegal mining.

Among those apprehended are individuals identified as Victor (31), Jonathan (34), Akpan (35), Aliu (27), Sanni (20), Adeoye (44), Ayodeji (50), Abdullahi (24), Doman (25), Isaac (20), Peter (25), and Dada (42).

Commander Adeleye explained that security agencies have intensified joint efforts in recent weeks to track and apprehend suspected criminals, noting significant results from the coordinated operations.

“Sixty-one of the suspects were found inside a trailer truck and are currently being profiled to determine further action,” Adeleye stated. “We also have 19 individuals who violated state laws, three linked to farmers-herders conflicts, 12 connected to kidnapping, and others involved in various offences.”

He confirmed that several kidnapping suspects were arrested in Akure North Local Government Area, specifically in Ilu-Abo, Idogun-Ugbe, Alagbaka, Ayede, Iloro Camp, and Ogbese communities.

On anti-grazing enforcement, Adeleye named Umai Jibril and Hassan as suspects, adding that of the 95 apprehended, 34 are currently being presented publicly while the remaining 61 are under further investigation.

The Amotekun Commander emphasized that these successes were achieved through the collective efforts of all security agencies in the state, including the police, NSCDC, DSS, and Nigerian Army.

He also issued a stern warning to criminal elements, stressing that Ondo State will not tolerate illegal activities. “We will continue to work with other security agencies to safeguard lives and property. Criminals should desist or face decisive action,” Adeleye declared.
