Governor Charles Soludo has been officially inaugurated for a second term in office during a ceremony held on Tuesday at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
He took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim, in an event attended by several high-profile dignitaries.
Notable figures present included Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, as well as former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku. Siminalayi Fubara and other state governors were also in attendance.
Soludo’s inauguration follows his victory in the November 8, 2025 governorship election, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
In the election, he secured 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 99,445 votes. The candidate of the Young Progressives Party, Paul Chukwuma, came third with 37,753 votes.
The ceremony marks the beginning of Soludo’s new term as he continues to lead the state.
