The Nigerian Army has apprehended 18 individuals suspected of supplying logistics to Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East region.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Army disclosed that the suspects were intercepted while travelling from Gubio towards the Gudumbali axis, where they were allegedly heading to deliver supplies to terrorist groups.
Preliminary investigations suggest that many of those arrested were drawn into the illegal activity due to economic hardship, highlighting how insurgent groups exploit vulnerable individuals.
The Army warned that providing any form of assistance—including logistics, intelligence, or support—to terrorist organisations remains a serious offence with severe consequences for national security and civilian safety.
It also called on residents to actively support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts by staying alert and reporting suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.
According to the statement, stronger community cooperation, alongside government initiatives such as empowerment programmes and access to basic services, would help reduce the influence of criminal networks.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and stability in affected areas, stressing that long-term security can only be achieved through collaboration between security forces and local communities.
