The Kano State Police Command has arrested 193 suspects following a series of coordinated raids on criminal hideouts and identified hotspots across the state, recovering weapons and illegal substances in the process.
The operation, carried out between April 10 and 12, 2026, was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, through a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Haruna Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the raids were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security measures in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu. These directives emphasise enhanced surveillance, increased patrol visibility, and intensified action against criminal networks.
The exercise, led by area commanders across the state, resulted in the seizure of various items, including 51 cutlasses, 15 knives, 41 clubs, and 72 containers of rubber solution. Officers also recovered 69 sachets of pregabalin, 259 Exol tablets, and a significant quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
Police authorities stated that investigations are ongoing, while patrols and monitoring activities have been intensified to maintain order and prevent further criminal activity.
The commissioner praised officers involved in the operation for their dedication and professionalism, while also acknowledging the role of residents in providing timely and useful information.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety and urged citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies for immediate response.
