A woman who was abducted from her residence in the Ijedodo area of Lagos State has regained her freedom after several days in captivity.

The victim, identified as Olanike Ogundare, was released after her family reportedly paid a ransom of $17,500 to her captors.

Drivetvnews report that she was taken in the early hours of Wednesday when armed men stormed her home around 1 a.m. The attackers were said to have subdued the security guard before taking her to an undisclosed location.

Following the incident, the family contacted security agencies, including the police and the Department of State Services, while also seeking support from local security networks to aid her rescue.

Sources indicated that the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of ₦60 million. However, the amount was later converted to dollars, a move believed to make tracking the transaction more difficult.

Communication between the abductors and the family reportedly took place using the victim’s phone, with an intermediary facilitating discussions.

Before her eventual release, part of the ransom had already been paid during negotiations.

Her return has brought relief to family members and residents in the community, although concerns remain over the rising cases of abduction in the area.
