Suspected bandits have carried out a violent attack on a community in Kwara State, killing two farmers and abducting two women.
The incident took place in Oko-Erese, along Oro-Ago in Ifelodun Local Government Area, where the attackers stormed farmlands and targeted residents who were working at the time.
According to sources, the gunmen opened fire on the farmers, killing two of them on the spot before taking away two women. The identities of the abducted victims had not been confirmed as of the time of the report.
During the attack, another resident reportedly escaped death but sustained serious injuries. The source explained that although gunshots did not hit him, he was struck on the head with a stick while trying to flee.
In a related incident within the same local government area, armed men attacked a forest guard and a civilian in Babanla community.
The victims, identified as Saheed and Rashid Oke-Apata, were said to be travelling on a motorcycle when they were ambushed. The attackers opened fire, but the forest guard continued riding in an attempt to escape.
He was later struck with a machete on the hand, leaving him seriously injured. Amid the chaos, the passenger reportedly jumped off the motorcycle but was chased down and abducted by the gunmen.
The injured forest guard was said to be in critical but stable condition following the attack.
These incidents have heightened concerns over rising insecurity in the area, with residents facing increasing threats from armed groups operating within the region.
