Donald Trump has stated that American forces destroyed seven Iranian vessels in the Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions in the region.
According to him, the boats—described as fast attack crafts—were targeted after Iran allegedly fired at ships linked to an operation referred to as “Project Freedom,” including a South Korean cargo vessel.
Reports gathered by Drivetvnews indicates that Trump said the U.S. military successfully neutralised the boats, suggesting they represented a major portion of Iran’s remaining naval strength in that area. He added that, aside from the incident involving the South Korean ship, no other vessels had been damaged while passing through the waterway.
He also announced that senior U.S. military officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine, would provide further details during a scheduled press briefing.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global shipping route, especially for oil transportation, and any escalation there typically raises international concerns about energy supply and regional security.
