The Ondo State Police Command has deployed security operatives to Akotogbo community in Irele Local Government Area following the discovery of the bodies of two residents in a nearby bush.
The deceased were identified as Loyinmi Bode and Andrew Friday. Reports indicated that the bodies were found at different locations within the community in separate incidents that occurred within a month.
The development has reportedly created fear and tension among residents of the agrarian community, with calls for urgent intervention from security agencies and the state government.
Confirming the incident, the police spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, said the command had already taken steps to maintain peace and prevent further breakdown of law and order in the area.
According to him, security measures have been strengthened in Akotogbo and neighbouring communities to ensure public safety.
“The command is fully aware of these developments and remains resolute in its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property,” he stated.
The police also disclosed that investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible for the killings.
