Nuradeen Shehu, a 37-year-old security guard at Prestige International College in the Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State, tragically ended his own life. The unsettling incident unfolded within the confines of a college classroom, prompting the State Police Commissioner, Hussaini Gumel, to provide details on Tuesday.According to Gumel, on January 28 around 10:30 am, Abdullahi Abdulsalam reported the discovery of Shehu’s lifeless body. Shehu had taken his own life by hanging himself with a rope in one of the college’s classrooms. Responding promptly, a team of policemen from Gwale Division, under the guidance of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), arrived at the scene. They took swift action, forcefully unlocking the door, cutting the rope, and swiftly transporting Shehu’s body to Murtala Mohammed General Hospital.At the hospital, a medical doctor confirmed the unfortunate demise of Nuradeen Shehu. The gravity of the situation became evident as the body was released to the deceased’s family for the necessary burial arrangements.A poignant aspect of this tragedy emerged as it was revealed that the motive behind Shehu’s drastic decision was linked to personal distress. It was reported that he had hanged himself upon learning that his ex-wife had remarried.
