Suspected terrorists have reportedly killed two people and kidnapped at least five others during an attack along the Okoloke–Isanlu Esa road in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to community sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday morning when heavily armed attackers ambushed travellers using the route. The assault caused panic among residents and commuters in the area.

Local sources disclosed that two victims lost their lives during the attack, while at least five others were taken away by the gunmen to an unknown location. Some residents also expressed concern that additional persons may still be missing, as relatives continue searching for loved ones who were travelling through the area.

The attack has further heightened fears among communities in Yagba West, where kidnapping and violent attacks have become recurring security challenges in recent years.

The Okoloke–Isanlu Esa road serves as a major link between several communities within the local government area. Residents have repeatedly raised concerns about insecurity along the corridor, citing the activities of criminal groups believed to be operating from nearby forests.

Sources said security agencies were informed of the incident and had begun mobilising personnel to the affected area. However, details regarding rescue efforts or possible arrests were not immediately available.

The latest attack has renewed calls for stronger security measures across parts of Kogi State, with residents urging authorities to take decisive action to safeguard lives and property.

As investigations continue, officials are expected to provide further updates on the incident and the ongoing response by security operatives.
