Prophet Itunu Onadeko, the fiancé of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, has alleged that the actress died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Onadeko made the claim during an interview with the Celestial Reality Check, the Media Investigative Unit of the Celestial Church of Christ, on Saturday.
His allegation contradicts widespread speculation that Osoba, who died at the age of 40, passed away from complications linked to her previous battle with breast cancer.
The prophet said he received a midnight phone call from an unidentified person informing him that Osoba had died at a police station in Ikorodu.
According to him, he did not know the exact station where the actress allegedly died but reported himself at a nearby police station after receiving the information.
Onadeko said Osoba had earlier gone to visit a woman identified as Mrs Kehinde Osoba, who also runs a church. He said the actress was accompanied by a hairdresser who had been staying with her.
He added that he remained in communication with Osoba until he later learnt of her death.
The prophet also rejected claims that cancer was responsible for her death. He acknowledged that Osoba had previously undergone cancer treatment and surgery but insisted that the illness did not cause her death.
Onadeko further denied allegations that he controlled or misused money donated to Osoba for her medical treatment.
He said the funds were paid directly into Osoba’s account and maintained that he never had access to the money. He also dismissed claims that the donations, reportedly including assistance from businessman Mike Adenuga, were used to construct his church.
According to him, the church had already been established for about two decades and was completed before Osoba became associated with the congregation.
The prophet also denied reports that Osoba had been prevented from driving her vehicle. He said she drove herself to Iperu shortly before her death, although he claimed he did not know exactly whom she had gone to visit.
Onadeko said Osoba had reservations about maintaining contact with some members of her maternal family because she believed she had not been treated well by them. However, he encouraged her to remain in contact with them because they were preparing for marriage.
He also disclosed that Osoba had struggled with smoking and said he had encouraged her to stop. According to him, members of the church were aware of the habit.
The prophet rejected allegations that the actress was subjected to physical maltreatment before her death, including claims that she was punished in degrading ways over an alleged theft.
He said that while they lived together, they shared financial responsibilities and that Osoba had purchased gold jewellery for both of them before they eventually sold the items and spent the proceeds.
Onadeko also denied claims that Osoba consumed poison before her death.
He said the actress had left the church about three weeks before she died and that he contacted one of her uncles, identified as Taiwo, after learning about her death.
Osoba, who had previously spoken publicly about her experience with breast cancer, announced her return to public life in 2024 after undergoing treatment and surgery.
She is expected to be buried on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
However, the claims made by Onadeko regarding the circumstances of Osoba’s death have not been independently verified, and the exact cause and circumstances of her death remain unclear.
