A Nigerian actor has recalled how veteran actor Jide Kosoko once had a serious disagreement with fellow actor Dele Odule over his casting as a lawyer in a movie.
The actor said he was invited by Dele Odule to feature in a movie, with Jide Kosoko serving as the director at the time.
According to him, Kosoko strongly opposed the decision to cast him as a lawyer, insisting that he would not be able to deliver the role effectively.
He recalled that the disagreement between Kosoko and Odule became heated while he stood by and watched the two veterans argue over the casting decision.
Despite Kosoko’s initial objection, he was eventually allowed to take on the role.
The actor said Kosoko was later impressed by his performance after filming was completed.
He added that Kosoko called him into his room that night and apologised for his earlier doubts about his ability to handle the character.
The actor said he understood Kosoko’s initial concerns because he was widely known for comedy roles, which may have made the veteran actor uncertain about his ability to convincingly portray a lawyer.
He noted that the experience taught him that actors should not be judged solely by the types of characters they are commonly known for playing.
