Arise Television’s Morning Show anchor, Rufai Oseni, has claimed that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is positioning himself for a possible bid for the 2031 presidential election.
Drivetvnews gathered that Oseni made the claim on Monday while discussing the ongoing disagreement between Wike and some governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, President Bola Tinubu may be unwilling to allow the dispute between Wike and the APC governors to escalate because of his political calculations ahead of the 2027 election.
Oseni said Tinubu could seek to manage the disagreement while maintaining his relationship with Wike, adding that the President might still address some of the concerns raised by the FCT minister.
He argued that the major political contest involving Wike could emerge after the 2027 elections, particularly over the future of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Oseni questioned how Wike would seek to rebuild the PDP after allegedly contributing to divisions within the party and supporting a faction.
He further argued that Wike’s current political activities could be part of a long-term strategy aimed at positioning himself for the presidency after the next eight years.
Oseni also noted that Wike’s age could give him time to pursue future political ambitions.
