Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has donated ₦20 million to a phone vendor in Ilesa after thieves reportedly broke into his shop and stole phones and other electronic gadgets.
Drivetvnews gathered that the vendor recently went viral after arriving at his shop and discovering that most of his merchandise had been taken overnight. Only a few phone pouches and chargers were reportedly left behind.
According to the vendor, the shop had both a bunker and a safe, but the thieves allegedly gained access and made away with the valuables inside.
Distraught over the incident, the businessman appealed to Nigerians for help in identifying those behind the theft. He also sought financial assistance, explaining that some customers had already paid for phones that were yet to be delivered.
He said the loss had left him facing the difficult task of either replacing the stolen devices or refunding customers. The vendor also disclosed that phone trading was his only source of income and that he had sold land to raise funds for the business.
Following the widespread attention generated by the incident, fellow TikToker, Pelumi Olajagbensi, reportedly drew Governor Adeleke’s attention to the vendor’s plight.
In a subsequent video, the vendor expressed excitement after receiving a ₦20 million credit alert, which he attributed to Governor Adeleke.
He thanked the governor for the financial assistance and appealed to members of the public to join him in appreciating Adeleke for coming to his aid.
The vendor described the governor’s gesture as a major relief following the heavy losses suffered by his business.
