Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam has invited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to visit the country as both nations seek to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation.
Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Nigerian Mission House in New York.
According to Ibrahim, Singapore’s UN envoy, Ambassador Burhan Gafoor, delivered the invitation in a letter from President Shanmugaratnam during a visit to the Nigerian Permanent Mission House.
Ibrahim, who received the letter, thanked the Singaporean government for the invitation and said he would convey it to President Tinubu.
He added that Tinubu would make arrangements to visit Singapore in the near future.
The Nigerian envoy said the economic reforms of the Tinubu administration had attracted international attention, including from Singapore, particularly in the areas of multilateral cooperation and national development.
Ibrahim also compared what he described as the boldness of Tinubu’s economic reforms with the transformation associated with Singapore’s late former Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew.
