Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has declared his support for the Accord Party candidate for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in Osun State, Pelumi Olajengbesi, ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election.
Drivetvnews gathered that Igboho made his position known on Sunday when Olajengbesi visited him at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to a statement from Olajengbesi’s media office, Igboho recalled the support he received from the lawyer during a difficult period in 2021, when security operatives raided his Ibadan residence during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Igboho subsequently fled to the Benin Republic, where he was detained.
Igboho also recalled Olajengbesi’s intervention when he wanted to return to Nigeria for his mother’s burial, saying the lawyer approached National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun to seek assurances that he would not be arrested.
He further credited Olajengbesi with supporting the establishment of the Irun Ekun Security Network and pledged to mobilise support for his political ambition.
Igboho said the constituency needed a change in representation and described Olajengbesi as “a breath of fresh air.”
He, however, urged the Accord Party candidate to fulfil his campaign promises if elected to represent the people of Oriade/Obokun.
Olajengbesi, who previously served as a campaign spokesperson for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election, is expected to face incumbent All Progressives Congress lawmaker Wole Oke in the 2027 election.
The Accord Party candidate said the constituency needed vibrant youth representation and a shift away from what he described as the recycling of old ideas.
He pledged to provide effective representation and pursue programmes aimed at improving development across the constituency if elected.
