The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons has commenced efforts to identify and locate a man seen abusing a toddler in a viral video circulating on social media.
The video, shared on X by @NigeriaStories on Wednesday, shows the shirtless man repeatedly striking the child with what appears to be a charger cable.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with social media users calling for the man’s identification and arrest.
Reacting to the video, NAPTIP said it was working with relevant security agencies to identify, locate and prosecute the suspect.
“We have noted the viral video and are working with relevant security agencies to identify, locate, and prosecute the perpetrator to the full extent of the law,” the agency stated on X.
NAPTIP urged members of the public with information that could assist the investigation to contact the agency through direct message, email at info@naptip.gov.ng, or its 627 shortcode.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children and ensuring that individuals responsible for child abuse are brought to justice.
