Former P-Square singer, Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has made fresh claims about his family’s relationship with his wife, Lola Omotayo-Okoye, as part of his ongoing tell-all series.
In the eighth episode of the series released on Thursday, Peter shifted attention from previous allegations involving finances and business dealings with his brothers, Jude and Paul Okoye, to claims about how Lola was allegedly treated by members of his family.
Peter said a family meeting took place at his residence in Omole when his son, Cameron, was about five months old.
According to the singer, his late mother, Josephine, travelled from Jos with some pastors and requested a private meeting with Lola.
Peter alleged that Lola was not warmly received and was told by his mother and Jude to leave him alone.
He further claimed that Jude picked up a photograph of Cameron and questioned whether the child was truly Peter’s son. Peter said the incident left Lola in tears and resulted in her leaving the house and staying away for several months.
The singer also alleged that Lola faced opposition from Jude and Paul during her pregnancy. He claimed that an attempt was made to cast doubt on Cameron’s paternity through a forged email.
Peter said the dispute eventually attracted the intervention of former Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke.
He, however, stated that his late mother later acknowledged Cameron as his biological son before her death. According to Peter, she prayed over the child’s photograph and asked Jude and Paul to apologise to Lola, but he claimed the apology never took place.
Peter also rejected claims that Lola had a poor relationship with his late mother, saying his wife cared for her during her final days in hospital.
The latest disclosure forms part of Peter’s ongoing series in which he has made several allegations concerning royalty payments, business arrangements and dealings involving Northside Music and his brothers.
Jude Okoye has denied the financial allegations and maintained that the matters are already before the courts. He also accused Peter of engaging in a media trial instead of allowing the legal process to resolve the disputes.
Meanwhile, former Square Records artistes May D and Cynthia Morgan have also reacted to the continuing family controversy.
May D, who previously had a public disagreement with the label, appeared to suggest that he could share his own experiences, posting that “Mr May D Part 1” was coming soon.
Cynthia Morgan has also criticised Jude Okoye in previous posts, alleging that she had personal experiences with him during her time with the label.
Morgan expressed hope that the ongoing court proceedings would eventually establish the facts surrounding the various disputes.
The continuing revelations involving the former P-Square members and their associates have generated significant interest among fans and other members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
