Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, of allegedly planning to manipulate Saturday’s governorship election.
Adeleke made the allegation in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday.
The governor’s accusation followed remarks allegedly made by Oyetola, which Adeleke said suggested that the APC may be preparing to interfere with the outcome of the election.
Adeleke urged residents of Osun State, political stakeholders and relevant authorities to remain vigilant and ensure that the electoral process is conducted peacefully, transparently and in accordance with the law.
The governor also called on security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that all candidates are given a level playing field and that the votes of residents are protected.
The APC and Oyetola had yet to publicly respond to Adeleke’s allegation at the time of the report.
