Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed reports claiming he is planning to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Allied People’s Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Drivetvnews gathered in a statement issued by his media aide, Femi Awogboro, Adelabu described the speculation as false, baseless and intended to mislead the public.
The clarification follows rumours alleging that his personal assistant, Ajiboye Akande, recently met with APM members to facilitate Adelabu’s defection after the APC governorship primary in Oyo State.
Reacting to the claims, Adelabu insisted that neither he nor his aide had held any discussions about leaving the APC, stressing that he remains a loyal member of the ruling party.
He also reaffirmed his respect for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the President and APC national leader as his political mentor.
According to Adelabu, he remains committed to the APC, believes in the party’s leadership, and is prepared to abide by its legitimate decisions through the democratic process.
He urged the public to disregard the reports, describing them as mischievous attempts to create confusion where none exists.
