In a heartbreaking incident at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, two students tragically lost their lives after inhaling fumes emitted by a generator.SP William Ovye Aya, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the devastating occurrence during a phone interview with DAILY POST on Thursday evening. The deceased individuals, identified as Bilikisu Tijani Eleojo, 20 years old, and Ibrahim Haliru, were found lifeless in their room by neighbors in the early hours of the day.According to Aya, the generator, positioned near their window, emitted carbon monoxide while the victims were asleep, leading to the fatal outcome.Mercy Ojochegbe, another student present in the room, was discovered alive and promptly rushed to the hospital. The incident has been reported to the B Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Lokoja, with ongoing investigations.Aya urged residents to prioritize safety by maintaining a safe distance between generators and living spaces, emphasizing the critical importance of prioritizing life over security concerns.
