Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has paid a surprise congratulatory visit to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, following his victory in the August 15 governorship election.
Drivetvnews gathered that Adeleke was declared winner of the election on Sunday after securing 511,067 votes across the state.
The governor, who contested under the Accord Party, defeated his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes.
Adeleke won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11 LGAs.
The visit by Obasanjo came just hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) formally declared Adeleke the winner of the keenly contested election.
The victory gives Adeleke another four-year term as governor of Osun State.
Adeleke’s triumph has continued to attract congratulatory messages from political leaders and prominent Nigerians, with Obasanjo joining those who have celebrated the governor’s re-election.
