The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of an alleged armed robbery and carjacking syndicate operating around the Alakuko area of the state.

The suspects were identified as Faruk Rasheed, 20; Olamilekan Ademola, 28; and Abidemi Oluwawemo, 21. Police said they were apprehended following credible intelligence gathered by operatives of the command.

According to the police, preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects allegedly specialised in car snatching and robbing residents of their valuables.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebesi, said a search conducted after the arrests led to the recovery of three locally made firearms and eight rounds of live ammunition.

The recovered weapons reportedly included two locally made pistols loaded with five cartridges and a locally made revolver pistol containing three rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The police said the suspects remain in custody while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the alleged syndicate.

The command did not provide details of specific robbery or carjacking incidents allegedly linked to the suspects, nor did it disclose the number of vehicles reportedly stolen or the identities of alleged victims.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and improving security across the state.

He also urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities and emergencies through the appropriate police channels.
