Operatives from the Makurdi Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) made a significant breakthrough on Wednesday, apprehending 14 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud. The arrests took place at a training center believed to be grooming potential cybercriminals in Makurdi, Benue State.According to a statement released by the Commission on Thursday, the suspects were detained following intelligence-driven operations at a three-bedroom apartment purportedly serving as a hub for training internet fraudsters along Achusa Road in Makurdi.The arrested individuals have been identified as Asongu Terungwa, Aese Sonter, Nyoosu Terungwa, John Kator, Udi Micheal Aodona, Terungu Mnyam, Iorwuese Terhide, Ule Francis, Imoter Gloor Emmanuel, and Samuel Lubem. Additionally, those apprehended include Wergba Tertamge, Erukaa Ephraim, Agenale Franklin, and Abechi Toryila.Various incriminating items were seized during the operation, including laptops, ATM cards, mobile phones, a Firman generator, and a Toyota Corolla car.Once investigations are concluded, the suspects will face charges in court as part of the ongoing efforts to combat internet-related crimes.
