Two people are in custody in Ogun State for allegedly stealing food items like a live turkey, half a bag of rice, palm oil, noodles, and more. The arrests occurred with the combined efforts of the Ogun State Police Command and the So-Safe Corps in the Oke-Ejigbo area of Abeokuta, Ogun State’s capital.

Kolawole Shobowale and Moruf Soyoye, identified by Omolola Odutola, Ogun State’s police spokesperson, were caught. They were reportedly involved in a string of shop and home break-ins around Oke-Ejigbo. The arrests happened around 6:30 am, aided by information shared by Commander Lawal Mudashiru from the So-Safe Corps.

A So-Safe Corps member spotted a group of suspects and tracked them to their homes, leading to the detention of two suspects, while one got away. One of the detainees was found with a live turkey and a blood-stained leg.

Odutola stated, “The apprehended individuals have admitted to their involvement in the criminal activities.” A search of their homes uncovered numerous items, including a live turkey, palm oil, vegetable oil, half a bag of rice, Indomie noodles, macaroni, detergents, phones, a GOtv decoder, clothing, insecticides, and more.

Local residents in Oke-Ejigbo went to the Oke-Itoku Police Division to identify if any of the recovered items were theirs. Odutola also mentioned that the case would be moved to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) for further investigation and potential prosecution.
