A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Buba Galadima, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is offering money and vehicles to lawmakers at the state and federal levels in exchange for giving up their tickets ahead of the 2027 elections.
Galadima made the allegation on Tuesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme.
He claimed that members of state Houses of Assembly who agree to withdraw in favour of APC candidates are being offered ₦50 million, while members of the House of Representatives are allegedly being offered ₦200 million and a car.
Galadima further alleged that a woman from Zamfara State was coordinating the distribution of the money to candidates at a hotel in Abuja.
According to him, the woman recently held a meeting with APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, where candidates who had allegedly surrendered their tickets were presented.
“We are only 100 days away from the general elections. Like every politician, except those in power, we are watching their backs because, as I speak to you, I don’t think there is any candidate outside the APC who is sure of contesting this election,” he said.
Galadima also alleged that President Bola Tinubu and APC governors were reluctant to face competitive elections and were seeking to secure victories without strong opposition.
He claimed that some candidates had already written resignation letters and collected the alleged payments.
The allegations had not been independently verified, and no evidence was presented in the report to substantiate the claims.
