The uncle of late Nigerian gospel artist Toluwanisings, born Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, has called on the government, religious leaders, traditional rulers and members of the public to help investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
Speaking during an interview with Dunmininu, the family member said the death had caused the family deep pain and appealed for support to establish the actual cause.
He stressed that the family wanted the circumstances surrounding the gospel artist’s death thoroughly investigated.
“We need the help of Nigeria because Sodiq’s death is hurting us. We need the help of important people, from the government down to religious leaders and traditionalists, to help us find out the true cause of his death. Please help us, we, the family of Olayeni,” he said.
The uncle also clarified that the family was actively seeking assistance with the investigation. He urged people not to question whether they had taken steps to investigate the matter, explaining that their appeal was for broader support.
“Nobody should question if we have sent anyone to investigate. Yes, we are calling on everyone to help investigate because his death is painful to us,” he added.
Family Suspends Burial Plans
The uncle further disclosed that the family had collectively agreed to suspend burial arrangements until the circumstances surrounding Sodiq’s death were investigated.
According to him, the decision was made because of the pain the family was experiencing and its desire to understand what led to the gospel artist’s death.
“For this reason, nobody should plan to bury Sodiq because we are all very hurt, and the entire family has agreed to put his burial on hold,” he said.
The family is appealing to relevant authorities, religious leaders and traditional rulers to assist in establishing the circumstances surrounding the death before burial arrangements proceed.
