A tragic incident unfolded at the Celestial Church of Christ, Grace of Comfort Parish, in Ile-Ife, Osun State, where Morris Fadehan, an evangelist, was allegedly killed by one of his assistants, Lekan Ogundipe, following an unresolved dispute.According to a security source in Ile-Ife, the attack occurred at the church altar in the Omitoto area, where Ogundipe reportedly stabbed Fadehan with sharp objects and attempted to burn his body before informing church elders of the matter.The source revealed that Ogundipe had an ongoing argument with Fadehan over an assault on a prophetess, escalating tensions since the previous Wednesday. On the fatal Monday, Ogundipe sneaked into the church, attacked Fadehan while he was praying at the altar, covering his head with cloth before inflicting multiple stab wounds.Ogundipe later approached a church elder, Pa Olafare, claiming that fire was burning on Fadehan’s body inside the church. Pa Olafare, accompanied by others, rushed to the scene, where they found Fadehan’s body burnt and bearing signs of assault.In a statement, Pa Olafare explained that Fadehan had intended to dismiss Ogundipe as his assistant due to various unlawful acts, including the recent assault on a prophetess. However, before the decision could be finalized, the tragic incident occurred.Upon investigation, the police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the suspect’s arrest and stated that the body was taken to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital for an autopsy due to the severity of injuries.The prophetess also recounted her encounter with Ogundipe, stating that he had attacked her for spreading rumors about their relationship and that Fadehan had warned him against further misconduct in the church.The suspect remains in custody as authorities continue their investigation into the tragic killing of Morris Fadehan.
